Joel & Sheryl A little about Joel and Sheryl Joel and Sheryl are a husband and wife team. They both have a love for horses and people that is truly a gift from God.
Joel has been involved with horses since he was "knee high to a grasshopper". All kidding aside he was born and raised in Ellicott City, Maryland and at the age of twelve started working with a trainer in the area riding his cutting horses. Joel went on to do whatever he could to be around horses even being involved in the race industry as a groom.
Joel plans were to become a veterinarian so he obtained a degree in Agricultural Science and entered Maryland University for Pre-Vet science, it seem though life and love have a way of changing plans and Joel opted instead to get married start a family and raise 3 children.. He stayed involved with horses buying and re-training horses for his own personal use. Joel learned from the horses he came in contact with. Joel is gifted when it comes to handling horses.
The opportunity presented itself, years later after the death of his first wife for Joel to attend "The American School of Equine Dentistry" in Virginia under the direction of Dr. Hyde. The world of Equine dentistry fascinated Joel and he obtained his certificate in Equine Dentistry. He is a member of the International Association of Equine Dentistry. Joel is always willing to share his knowledge with his customers and local clubs and organizations. You can expect for Joel to inform the client of exactly what he is doing for their horse and why it needs to be done, his clients greatly appreciate him taking the time to do this.
Sheryl has had horses in her life since she was 8. She had her first horse for twenty eight years , Apache moved with her family across the country via Washington to Texas to Pennsylvania so, she understands peoples attachments to their horses.
Sheryl graduated high school , worked in a couple of barns then decided to get married and raise 4 children, always keeping her feet in the horse world.
She has worked in various barns as a groom, rider, and instructor. She was gifted with a passion for horses and kids.. She tells everyone she learned more from her equine teachers and her own children than she ever could have learned from a book, they are truly gifts from God. She loves the horse and she respects what they have to show us about ourselves and themselves, if we simply ask and respect them enough to listen to their answers.
In the fall of 2007 Sheryl met Joel and an immediate friendship emerged. Both being widowed with teenagers and having horses there was always something to talk about. In 2008 Joel asked Sheryl to marry him and they started a new adventure in life together. Sheryl will tell you she is truly blessed to be able to work with a man who is as passionate about his work as Joel is. Joel and Sheryl believe God has prepared them their whole lives for the life they are living now. They are truly blessed!
